The New Generation of Managing Directors

The New Generation of Managing Directors

Charles Coward and Andy Coward have been appointed as joint Managing Directors of family-owned Hillbrush following the move of current MD Philip Coward to become Chairman.

Philip’s son Charles is currently our Commercial Director, overseeing Sales and Marketing operations while Philip's nephew, Andy, joined Hillbrush in 2016 as IT and Finance Director.

Hillbrush, which was established in Wiltshire in 1922 brothers by Fred and Bill Coward, now employs more than 100 people and manufactures more than 2000 products, from traditional brooms through to specialist cleaning tools for janitorial, food manufacturing and HORECA sectors, which are distributed to more than 90 countries.

We opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Mere in 2017, which incorporates a visitor centre, brush museum, restaurant and shop.

Philip Coward, Chairman of Hillbrush said:

“After 44 years with Hillbrush and many of those as Managing Director, the time is right for me to hand over to the next generation of our family. Youth is important in any organisation and both Charlie and Andy are well qualified to drive Hillbrush forward. While we have our heritage in traditional brushmaking we have developed some innovative new products in the last few years including specialist cleaning tools for high risk hygienic food manufacturing. Developing new markets and opportunities such as these will support our future expansion; these are exciting times for Hillbrush.”
