The Blackmore Vale Business Awards dinner, a prestigious event celebrating the achievements of businesses across Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire, saw over 300 finalists gather to recognize excellence across various categories. The awards span a diverse range of businesses, from burgeoning start-ups and dedicated individuals to established family businesses and large corporations like Hillbrush, showcasing the vibrant and dynamic business landscape of the region.
Hillbrush, a long-standing and respected name in the manufacturing sector, found itself among formidable contenders in the highly competitive "Large Business of the Year" category. This category recognizes businesses that have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation, and contribution to the local economy. The competition was particularly fierce, with Hillbrush facing off against three other prominent businesses: CETSAT, a technology company specializing in [mention CETSAT's specific area of technology if known]; Ebit Business Solutions Limited, procurement specialists offering [mention Ebit's specific procurement services if known]; and Harts of Stur, a major player in the retail sector, renowned as one of the UK's largest in-store and online retailers of cookware, kitchenware, and kitchen electrics. The diverse nature of the competitors highlighted the breadth of talent and innovation present within the Blackmore Vale business community.
The judging process for the awards was rigorous and comprehensive. As part of this process, Hillbrush welcomed representatives from both the sponsors and the event organizers to its premises. This visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the judging panel to gain firsthand insights into the inner workings of the company. The visit involved in-depth discussions with Hillbrush’s directors, covering a wide range of critical business aspects. Key areas of focus included Human Resources, examining the company’s approach to employee development, well-being, and talent retention; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), assessing Hillbrush’s commitment to ethical and sustainable practices; manufacturing processes, exploring the efficiency, innovation, and quality control measures implemented within the production facilities; future investments, discussing the company’s strategic plans for growth and development; and marketing strategies, analyzing the effectiveness of Hillbrush’s approach to reaching its target markets and building brand awareness. This comprehensive evaluation allowed the judges to form a holistic understanding of Hillbrush’s operations and its contribution to the local economy and community.
Following the announcement of the award results, Charles Coward, Hillbrush’s Managing Director and also Chair of the ABMA’s Safety and Standards Committee, shared his thoughts on the achievement. He conveyed the judges' positive feedback on the Hillbrush business, highlighting their praise for the company's vision and the exciting opportunities it has identified for future growth and development. Mr. Coward emphasized that the award was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collective effort of all the staff at Hillbrush, as well as the contributions of everyone who has been involved with the business over the past year. He concluded with a heartfelt "Well done team!", acknowledging the crucial role of the entire Hillbrush workforce in achieving this prestigious recognition. The award serves as a significant validation of Hillbrush’s ongoing commitment to excellence and its position as a leading business within the Blackmore Vale region.
