Fire & Rescue
Having moved into our new facility at Norwood Park, we're having to sort out the old site and will be saying goodbye very soon. Before the the Woodlands road site is passed onto it's new owners for development, Wiltshire & Dorset Fire and Rescue service have asked if they can use the building for training purposes. They will be using synthetic smoke during their simulation to keep their training up to date and make sure that they're always prepared. A303 Public Consultation
Another important event coming up that will affect Hillbrush is the public consultation for the A303 widening. The scheme has been in and out of discussion since 1989 and is finally getting the recognition and attention it deserves this year. From 12th January to 5th March, Highways England are offering the public to have their say about the project. The A303 is one of the main routes from London to the west across the south of England and with all the bottlenecks, speed limit changes and single-carriageway areas, it has become a nightmare for the public, regular commuters and tourists alike in planning holidays and deciphering journey times. There are a number of options for the project, all of which will provide much better road quality and journey times, much less traffic through local villages and will also bypass the historical landmark of Stonehenge which not only causes problems for drivers creating extreme tailbacks, but riuns the sights, sounds and accessibility of this treasured site.
Our Managing Director, Philip Coward spoke to Highways England before this process began to highlight the issues that the A303 causes for Hillbrush.
“...We warn suppliers that it is not a good idea to make deliveries to us on a Friday. This does affect our business…”
